Proven Ways to Pioneer and Engineer Your Dream

Focus on Executing your Dream

We all fantasize about doing what we love and making truckloads of money while we’re at it.  Too many times our hopes and dreams get trampled on by others telling us that life isn’t all fun and laughter and that if we want to succeed in life, we need to pull up our socks and start acting in a certain manner.

I disagree wholeheartedly. The rat race isn’t for all of us. Some of us need to man the ‘padstal’ next to the road.  Let others speed away on life’s highway.  I’m quite happy watching the grass grow on the sidewalk, thank you very much.  What those condescending rats don’t realize is that I sell wheelbarrows full of 5-foot-by-2-foot chunks of grass to them to plant in their gardens… and I laugh all the way to the bank!

It’s possible to do what you love and make money from it.  However, you’ll need to be the pioneer as well as the engineer of your dreams.  Transforming dreams into reality require guts, grit, determination and copious amounts of self-discipline.

Doing what you love doesn’t automatically pave your way to success.  (It does make the journey more enjoyable, though.)  What paves one’s way to success is action.  You have to work hard to turn your dreams into reality.  Forget about resolutions and focus on execution.  When you want to make money from doing what you love you need to make things happen.

Here’s how you can make money from doing what you love.

Never settle for second best

If you’re not happy doing what you currently do, you need to re-think your situation.  You cannot waste time and energy on something that will never afford you a sense of fulfillment.

Identify your interest and/or love

Time is precious, so think long and hard about what your interests are and what you really want to do with your life.  You need to be sure about this.  Having only a vague notion of what you think you love will only lead to failure. Will your love for something be enough of a driving force to keep you focused when the going gets tough?

Be honest about your capabilities

You may love singing but you may not have a voice that will sell a single record.  However, your voice may be good enough for singing ‘Happy Birthday’ at kiddies’ parties.  Think outside the box and don’t limit yourself to what is considered conventional.

Do your homework

Have others done what you love and made money from their ideas?  How did they go about achieving it?  Learn from their mistakes.  Find out what their challenges were and how they had overcome it.  If you need more training in order to be the best in doing what you love, go for it.  Share ideas and thoughts with those who share your passion.  Pick their brains.  Know your potential market and research the viability of your idea.

Be decisive and take action

Decide on what you want to do and how you’re going to do it and start doing it.  Be prepared to work very hard.  Only your best is good enough.

The secret to making money while doing what you love lies in dogged persistence and grueling effort.  Hard work always pays off.  If you do what you love and you invest passion and creative energy into it, you will succeed.  Believe in your dream and work hard to achieve it.
